How to make dill pickle dip
Ingredients:
- Cream cheese
- Dill pickles
- Pickle juice
- Sour cream
- Dill
Now to make it, you literally need only 4 ingredients – I count dill pickles and pickle juice as 2 individual items on the ingredient list, but you only buy 1 product!
Tools you will need:
- Medium to large mixing bowl + fork
- Cutting board & knife – Chef’s knife works best to finely chop pickles as well as fresh dill.
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Serving bowl
There is nothing difficult about making this simple dip. Once you finely chopped pickles and dill, you simply mix these with the rest of the ingredients in a bowl. If your cream cheese is too hard you will be better off using a food processor.
What to eat dill pickle dip with
- Potato chips, preferably ridged – We love serving it with wasabi flavored chips!
- Fresh vegetables – Why not make a simple snack board to go with it?
- Pretzels
This dip would also go well with fried onion rings or beef wellington bites.
Useful tips
- You can add more pickle juice, if you like. In general, you don’t want the dip to be too runny but it should be easy to dip into. If too runny, add more cream cheese or sour cream.
- Note that it will thicken in the fridge so you can add more pickle juice (or fresh lemon juice) if too thick.
- The quantity of fresh dill as well as the juice depends on you. This is what we enjoy and that is how I make it. I also often eyeball the quantities and it always turned out great!
- I don’t recommend using dry dill as a substitute as this pickle dip really shines with the fresh herb. However, it is possible to do so.
