Making these spicy deviled eggs with bacon does not take long which makes them a great party appetizer.
How to make deviled eggs with bacon and jalapeno
Peel each egg and cut it in half lengthwise. Remove the yolks and transfer them into a small bowl (a soup bowl is perfect for this). To the same bowl, add mayo, yogurt, jalapeños, jalapeño juice, mustard and mix everything well. A fork is the best tool for this job.
Next, add finely chopped cooked bacon and mix again. The mixture is now ready and you can fill the whites with it.
You will have just the perfect amount of filling for 12 deviled eggs (halves).
To top each deviled egg with a piece of crispy bacon and a slice of jalapeno and you are ready to serve!
How spicy these jalapeño bacon deviled eggs are?
Note that everyone is different so what is hot for me can be mild for you. Now that being said, if you use only a teaspoon of finely chopped jarred jalapenos, you should get a very mild jalapeno flavor and the level of spiciness should be really low.
That is why I like to top each one of these jalapeno bacon deviled eggs with an extra slice of jalapeno, so if someone finds it too hot to their liking, they can simply remove the slice and enjoy the rest of this easy appetizer.
Now, if you and your guests love the spicy kick, feel free to add more chopped jalapenos to the yolk mixture. But if not sure, it’s better to start with less, taste it and add more afterwards, if you like.
Expert tips
- Jalapeños and bacon are the stars of this easy deviled egg recipe.
- Natural yogurt can be easily substituted with Greek yogurt or mayonnaise.
- Use any bacon strips you like. Just note that their level of saltiness varies from brand to brand (some of them are really salty while others are not). If not sure or if making these deviled eggs with bacon and jalapeno for the first time, I suggest adding salt at the very end to avoid over-seasoning the egg yolk mixture.
What are the best finger foods for a party?
There is not right or wrong when it comes to making party food appetizers. It will depend on what you or your guests like.
The important thing to remember is the dietary restrictions/needs of your guests. If you don’t know or are not sure, it’s good to ask them in advance so you can plan ahead.
Once you’ve got that sorted, you can move on to the next step - gathering party recipe ideas. The summer party food menu will probably look different than the winter menu.
A short get together will require less appetizers, but if you want to cater for a full day event, you will want to gather as many easy and quick appetizer recipes as you can. We are talking garlic cheddar cheese dip, slow cooker spinach dip or potato leek soup shooters.
For men, you should include some meat appetizers like air fryer sticky chicken wings, slow cooker sweet & spicy meatballs or baked buffalo chicken wings. These would also be great for a Game Day party menu plan or any other occasion.
Women might prefer some lightened-up finger food options and depending on your guests diets I try to include some vegan or meat-free snacks as well.
Bacon Jalapeño Deviled Eggs
Are you tired of making classic deviled eggs and looking for new deviled egg recipes? Try these bacon jalapeno deviled eggs!
Ingredients
- 6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
- ⅛ cup mayonnaise
- ⅛ cup natural yogurt, see note 1
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped jalapeno, see note 2
- 1 teaspoon juice from jalapenos, see note 3
- 1 teaspoon classic French mustard
- 4 cooked bacon strips, see note 4
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 12 thin jalapeño slices (optional but recommended)
Instructions
- Peel eggs. Cut each in half lengthwise and remove egg yolks.
- In a small bowl (a soup bowl will do), combine the egg yolks with mayonnaise, natural yogurt, finely chopped jalapeños and mustard. Mix with a fork until well combined.
- Now, stir in about 2-3 finely chopped bacon strips.
- Transfer the egg whites onto a serving plate/tray and fill each one with the filling. Top with a jalapeño slice, a piece of bacon and sprinkle with black pepper.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- Natural yogurt can be substituted with mayonnaise or Greek yogurt.
- Jalapeños - make sure to chop them finely. You can use more than a teaspoon, if you like. See also note 6.
- I only used about a teaspoon of the juice from canned jalapeños. You can add a little bit more, but the more you add the thinner the filling turns out. You want it to be thick, so it holds its shape well.
- You will probably need less than 4 slices of bacon. This will depend on their size. Also, note that some bacon is saltier than others so if you are not sure, season with salt and pepper at the very end. You might not even need to use any salt at all.
- Garnish - I used a slice of jalapeño and a piece of crispy bacon and sprinkled some freshly cracked black pepper over. You can use chives or fresh parsley as well, if you like.
- The extra jalapeño slice on the top of each deviled egg is optional. However, if you like to feel the heat of jalapeños, I recommend using it. Or add more jalapeños to the filling.
