A fancy looking appetizer that is ready in minutes! Caprese salad bites are easy to make and crowds love them. These refreshing bites are drizzled with olive oil, secured with a stick and served in a mini glass.
Wash the cherry tomatoes and pat them dry with a paper kitchen towel.
Place one onto a worktop, add basil leaf and mozzarella on top of it. Secure this with a stick and place onto a place. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients.
When done, season each mozzarella ball with black pepper. Place each bite into a shot glass/small plastic cup, season with salt and drizzle with olive oil.
Best served right away!
Notes
You will get 12 appetizers out of this recipe. If counting with 2-3 bites per person, you would feed 4-6 people. I recommend serving these alongside other appetizers.
I highly recommend using good quality ingredients here – extra virgin olive oil and tomatoes. Make sure the tomatoes are ripe but not gone off. Taste one to make sure they are OK.
Balsamic vinegar/balsamic reduction can also be drizzled on top of each bite (if you like).
These caprese bites cannot be made well in advance but you can keep them in the fridge for up to 3 hours. After 3 hours the mozzarella balls start drying out.
